How much does a store have to pay for debit/credit card transactions?

If I were to go to a 7-11 and pay for something that cost $2-3 using my debit card, am I actually costing the store money?|||Typically a merchant is charged about 50 cents per transaction if a debit transaction is made. If a credit card transaction is made, the merchant is usually charged between 10-50 cents plus 2% of the purchase.

That is why many small stores will charge a service charge for a debt transaction and do not accept credit card transactions.|||No.

They have an agreement with the credit company that they accept (I know this because they don't accept every single thing.) And on the contract the store receives something in exchange for that 2-3 USD.

A store would never loose money without reason.
