I'm about to open an account at a new bank, and i want to get a debit card, so i have a few questions.
-How do i get one? just ask about it when i go to set up the account?
-I'm 16. will i need my parent to sign on it or something?
-Does a debit card link to your savings account or do you need a...debit...account? xD
Yeah, that's about it. any help would be great.|||Debit cards are linked to checking accounts. In almost every state, almost every bank, you need to be 18 to have a checking account.
Your parents may be able to open the account with you so that you could have a debit card that's tied to their account. The people at the bank will be able to advise you about exactly what their rules and regulations are.|||First of all you are a minor so you will have to have your parents with you when opening an account and sign on it. You may also ask to get a debit card then. Usually you have to fill out an application to get the debit card. Yes you can have it linked to both checking and savings. However you cannot purchase items using funds in your savings. The savings is only there if you want to transfer money to checking or withdrawl cash from savings (both done at an ATM).
