Me and my girlfriend are trying to reserve a hotel, I'm 17 and she's 18. She doesn't have a debit card but I do and she suggested we use a gift card to reserve it. We're planning on going to a pretty nice hotel. Hyatt. Do hotels take debit gift cards? Any other way?|||Anywhere that accepts Debit will be able to use it. As long as it is a debit gift card and not a store specific card. You use it the same as any debit card.|||Yes you should be able to reserve the hotel provided that there are sufficient funds on the card. Keep in mind that when you check in the hotel will require a credit or debit card and will place a hold on some of the funds as a security deposit. So make sure that if you are going to use a debit card when you check-in that you find out how much the hotel will hold in your checking account. I think with most hotels its like 50 per night and the hold is taken off of your account when you check out. That being said make sure that you have more than enough money to cover the credit/debit card hold and your expenses for the vacation (b/c the hotel puts a $200 hold on your account for the hotel stay, its almost like a withdrawl, and you can't touch that money until you check out and the hold is released).
Call and ask the hotel what their policy is.|||When you reserve a hotel room with a credit/debit card the hotel does not charge anything to the card but instead puts a hold on the funds. So if the total is $100, then they would hold $100 on the card. In the case of a debit card that would show as a $100 frozen charge, which means you would not be able to use those funds. When you get to the hotel you can have them complete the charge on that card or give them an alternate form of payment.|||As long as the card has visa, mastercard or american express written on the card and enough money on it to cover the charge of the hotel you should be fine. You don't even need to tell them its a debit card, the visa/mastercard symbol makes it a credit card.|||Yes you can|||no you cant. you always need a credit card.
