Which is safer to use when purchasing items online, debit card or checking account?

I'm considering purchasing an item from Amazon, but this just so happens to be my first time purchasing anything from off the Internet. I was needing to know which is safer to use, the debit card or the checking account?|||Debit card. However, a credit card is even safer if you have one. If you are buying directly from Amazon you will be fine, they are very credible.|||the exact same.

either you're giving out your routing number and account number, or your DC number and expiration date

so theoretically this info could be used to clean out your account.

but amazon is a good site, so i wouldn't worry.. it's as safe as giving a check to some random cashier at any 'real' store.. so i wouldn't worry.|||I agree with RetiredDe... Use the debit card because if someone bad gets hold of your information, it's easier to replace. Giving out the routing number would mean changing the account entirely if someone were to steal the info. And I agree amazon is trustworthy. If you're really worried, have you considered a paypal account?
